Abbass Darwish

MEP design engineer

I design hydronic heating, plumbing and water treatment systems, and model them in Revit MEP. The projects below are complete builds: calculations, equipment selection, and a coordinated 3D model for each.

Villa underfloor heating. Loop layout and manifold distribution across all levels.

Projects

Villa underfloor heating

Underfloor heating for a three-story villa. Heat loss was calculated room by room with the U-value method, for 18–22 °C indoors against a 2 °C outdoor design temperature. Loops are zoned onto four manifolds placed per floor, serving single- and dual-room zones, and the full circuit is modeled in Revit.

System
Hydronic underfloor heating
Software
Revit MEP
Scope
Room-by-room heat loss, loop layout, manifold zoning
Design

Manifolds
4, single- and dual-room zones

Floor plan. Loop layout per room with manifold locations.
Host building. Basement, ground and first floor.

Boiler room and pump station

The mechanical room for the same villa: a wall-mounted plant with a boiler, buffer and expansion vessel, a domestic hot water calorifier, and six circulator branches feeding the heating circuits. The boiler is sized to the space heating and calorifier demand with a safety margin, and each circulation pump is sized from its loop's flow rate and friction-loss pressure drop.

Software
Revit MEP
Scope
Boiler and pump sizing, plant layout, boiler and DHW supply and return piping

Plant room in the villa. Boiler, cylinder and circulator branches placed within the building.
Plant equipment. Isolated view of the boiler, circulators and cylinder.

Reverse osmosis water treatment plant

Water systems for a 32-unit, eight-floor residential building of 128 occupants. Domestic water is sized to UPC fixture-unit demand. An RO plant with three-stage treatment (chlorination, filtration, UV post-treatment) runs a fixed six-hour batch cycle that covers the full daily demand, filling a ground-level buffer tank with rooftop booster distribution. Sizing calculations were built in an Excel workbook.

Plant overview. Treatment vessels, tanks, pumps and membranes on the plant slab.
Process side. Second angle on the membranes and pump set.
Plan view. Equipment and piping layout.

Sewage and wastewater treatment

For the same 128-occupant building: independent sewage (activated sludge) and wastewater (aeration) treatment trains, both sized to full occupancy. The treatment tank is modeled with its aeration diffuser grid, blower, settling compartment, submersible pump and the chemical dosing and inlet piping around it.

Inside the tank. Diffuser grid, settling compartment and equipment on the tank edge.
Plan view. Diffuser grid layout.
Second angle. Tank, diffusers and pipe routing.
Tank exterior. Concrete walls and baffles.
